The popular wedding band led by singer Amiran Dvir has created a new song expressing the bittersweet emotions evoked by a wedding at which loved ones are missing. Dvir is launching the song, called “The Canopy Path,” this week. He will release a CD including the song in the upcoming months.

The song was composed by Yossi Grin and written by Dvir. It is intended to be played while the bride is accompanied to the canopy, Dvir said. “The young couples always ask for a special song for the last few minutes before the marriage ceremony,” Dvir explained. “However, there was no song that was appropriate to accompany the bridal procession on that special path toward her canopy in those last moments of holiness and purity before she becomes a married woman.”
Dvir's song was inspired by his personal experience at his brother Arik's wedding. While the Dvir family rejoiced at the happy event, there were also tears for Amiran and Arik's mother, who had passed away. “Usually there is always someone that sheds a tear at the most joyous moment, and when I ask what is the reason for those tears, they tell me of a relative that has passed away or someone who is missing from the happy event,” Dvir said.
The album on which “The Canopy Path” is included will also include other new songs in addition to some of Dvir's best-known songs. The album will be Dvir's fourth. Previous albums included well-known Hassidic songs as well as Dvir's original Hassidic music.
Amiran Dvir's band is one of the most popular wedding bands in the Israeli religious community.
