The heads of five regional councils in the western Negev and Gaza Belt region addressed an urgent message to Prime Minister Ehud Olmert Sunday, as rockets continued to hit the areas under their jurisdictions. They asked Olmert to come and tour the area and see from up close the residential neighborhoods that have not been fortified.

Fortification, he said, "is a solution for dealing with the problem psychologically, not rationally."

One wounded in Sderot

The Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency service reports that one person was lightly wounded in a Kassam rocket attack on Sderot early Sunday evening. MDA teams treated the person for shrapnel wounds to the head and one of his hands, but he refused to be taken to hospital for further treatment.

Two people were taken to Sderot's trauma center for emotional shock.
