Likud mayor's use of photographs of the radical fringe group Neturei Karta in Iran at Holocaust denial conference casts hareidi-religious Jews in an ugly light...

The Shas candidate for mayor of Beit Shemesh appealed to party chairman Eli Yishai to call on Likud party chairman Binyamin Netanyahu for help against his rival mayoral candidate, who also happens to be a member of Likud..

Yishai agreed to the request from Shas candidate Rabbi Moshe Abutbal, who  accused Likud incumbent Mayor Danny Vaknin of being unacceptably hostile towards the Sephardic religious Shas party.

Rabbi Abutbul cited the Likud mayor's use of photographs of the radical fringe group Neturei Karta in Iran at a Holocaust denial conference, casting hareidi-religious Jews in an ugly light. He said that Mayor Vaknin used the same tactic in the use of photos of religious Jews in the Holocaust.

The Shas candidate told reporters that Yishai warned Netanyahu that Shas would not support his bid to become Prime Minister in the next Knesset if the maligning continues.

Rabbi Abutbul also maintained that Netanyahu is not on good terms with Vaknin and may actually prefer not to see him re-elected.
