Two Arab men attempted to stab a Jewish youth in Jerusalem on Monday night. The youth managed to drive the men away with a stick, and escaped unharmed.
Police were called and began searching for the attackers. At this point, it is not clear if the men intended to carry out a terrorist killing or if they are criminals, police said.
Earlier in the day, several rock attacks were reported in Judea and Samaria. Arabs targeted drivers near the town of Nili, next to the PA-controlled town of Azoun, and near Rahelim, next to the city of Ariel. One bus was damaged in the attacks. No injuries were reported.
In Naalin, west of Ramallah, Arabs and Israeli anarchists threw stones at border police in a violent demonstration against construction of a security barrier separating the town from the Jerusalem region. Police dispersed the rioters. No injuries were reported.
In Bethlehem, border police special forces arrested a senior Islamic Jihad terrorist late on Sunday night. The terrorist was identified as Mohammed Abed al-Majid Khalil. Khalil is accused of organizing at least 15 attacks in the Jerusalem area, including a suicide bombing, shootings and a car bomb.
