Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, goes the old saying – and campaign strategists pray for items like the Sarah Palin Wig.
The show-stopping topper is being marketed among
Shlomo Klein, Vice President of the venerable wig wholesaler Georgie, told the American TV network Fox News on Thursday that the human-hair "Sarah Palin" – which sells for $695 on an internet wig retail site --- is one of the company's most popular wigs.
The wig, which is listed as a "Best Seller" on a well-known retail wig vendor's website, has sold in the dozens since the Republican Convention.
Although Palin was a relative unknown before she was tapped to become the running mate of Republican presidential candidate Senator John McCain, the Governor of Alaska has become a national celebrity since joining the campaign.
And although she is a devout Christian, leading a state in which there are very few Jews, Klein sees no conflict in popularizing her style among Orthodox Jewish women.
"She's pro-Israel," he notes.
Is All Imitation Flattery?

It turns out that even dog lovers are looking for ways to make a Palin fashion statement this season.
A Florida-based company has also started to sell Palin wigs -- for canines. The Wiggles Dog Wigs company offers two Palin styles for your pooch – the Sarah Palin Style and Sarah Palin's Hair Do (yes, this is for real!), with retail prices beginning at $39.
But the best cure for the Alaskan governor's obscurity has been the weekly dose of satirical mugging by comedienne Tina Fey on
Palin herself appeared on the program in person opposite Fey last week.
