Although the national Histadrut Labor Union strike ended last week with an agreement for a 3.6% wage hike, it is still not clear where some of the money is going to come from. The municipal councils demand that the national government pay for it in full; until such an agreement is attained, the municipal workers say, they are staying home. No meeting is planned between the sides until Wednesday. Trash will therefore not be collected and municipal services will not be offered. Garbage trucks disrupted traffic today on the Gush Dan (central Israel) highways and in the Be\'er Sheva region. School janitors, however, will be served with back-to-work orders so that schools will be clean enough for schoolchildren to study hygienically.
