The Jerusalem District Court on Monday morning sentenced the murderer of former Tourism Minister Rehavam Ze’evi to life in prison plus an additional 80 years.
Majdi Rahima Rimawi was convicted on July 29, 2008 of five separate charges for his role in masterminding the assassination of the nationalist minister outside his
The 43-year-old terrorist planned, ordered and organized the gang that attacked “Ghandi,” as Ze’evi was affectionately known.
Rimawi was also convicted on charges of training with weapons and several counts of attempted murder in a unanimous decision by a panel of three judges, Jusices Ya’akov Tzaban, Gila Canfi-Steinitz and Rafi Carmel.
For legal purposes, the start of Rimawi’s prison term is considered from the date Rahima was arrested by Palestinian Authority forces in February 2002.
Ze’evi was shot to death by terrorists Bassal Asmar and Hamdi Kur’an, both of whom have already been convicted and are serving life terms in prison.
