Knesset Member Otniel Schneller (Kadima) has supported Sha'ul Mofaz since Mofaz announced his candidacy for Kadima leadership. Though polls give Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni more chances of becoming the next Kadima leader, Schneller tells IsraelNationalNews that he remains optimistic.

“The field shows that Mofaz is going to be the leader of the party and hence the Prime Minister,” explains Schneller “His advantage is that he will be the bridge between many parts of the nation: right, left, religious, non-religious, rich and poor. I think we will have a very positive Prime Minister.”

IsraelNN’s Chizki Ezra asked Schneller for his opinion regarding Vice Premier Chaim Ramon’s proposed plan to offer money to those who agree to leave their homes in Judea and Samaria (Yesha). The offer is limited to hose living east of the security barrier.

Schneller, himself a resident of Yesha, is not afraid that the plan will harm the communities even if it is implemented, “To discuss this today is illegitimate and not smart even for those who wish to evacuate us. If my neighbor leaves, will his house be destroyed or sealed up? Of course not. Stronger people will come in his stead. And so, this whole plan is silly.”
