A Palestinian Authority Arab youth was injured Thursday afternoon during a violent demonstration against the Judea-Samaria separation barrier under construction at the Arab village of Na'alin.
The 12-year-old boy was reportedly hit in the head by a rubber bullet fired by a Border Guard police officer. Security forces were trying to control a massive demonstration by more than 100 violent Arabs.
Violent demonstrations have been carried out against the separation barrier almost daily by PA Arabs, left-wing Israelis and foreign activists who encourage the riots.
Four Border Guard police officers were wounded by rocks that were hurled at them by the demonstrators. In addition, a pregnant demonstrator was wounded by tear gas used by the troops trying to control the crowd that had been pelting the officers with stones since the morning.
The village, located west of the Samarian PA-controlled city of Ramallah and close to the centrally-located Jewish city of Modi'in, has been the scene of near-daily riots and demonstrations against the security barrier.
Dozens of rioting Arabs spent hours Thursday afternoon hurling rocks at the Border Guard police officers who were securing the site. Troops responded with riot dispersal techniques, including tear gas.
Border Guard police officers arrested four demonstrators, including the chairman of a local PA municipality, and transferred the suspects to security forces for questioning.
