Dimona, south of Be\'er Sheva, has become the most unemployed Jewish city in Israel. Some 500 city residents, led by Mayor Gabi Lalush, closed off the main entrance to Dimona this morning in protest of their deteriorating economic situation. Although the protest was a peaceful one, the Dimona Municipality notes that this was just the \"opening salvo\" of what may become a long struggle. The press, in fact, was told that the \"government has a big surprise waiting for it.\" Thousands of Dimona-ites are planning to protest in Jerusalem this coming Tuesday.
