Everyday, hundreds of Jewish women and girls are being held in captivity by abusive Arab husbands and boyfriends across Israel. Often their only way out is a daring breakout while the abusers are away. This newly released video shows the story of one such rescue.

The video shows how “N.” and her eight children were rescued from their “home” in an Arab section of Jerusalem’s Old City, just minutes from their brothers praying at the Kotel(The Western Wall). “N” had used the Yad L’Achim helpline to be in touch with the volunteer rescue squad. The volunteers infiltrated the Arab neighborhood, and, using unmarked vehicles, swept up “N” and her children before the surrounding Arab families could foil the rescue. “N”’s abusive Arab “husband” was in prison at the time.
The Yad L’achim organzation, founded in 1950, maintains a helpline for Jewish women and girls who have been misled or manipulated by Arabs. According to the organization, “N” told them she grew up in a religious community in the Golan Heights, but at age 20, rebelled against her parents and ran away from home. Now at age 40, “N” is returning to her true Jewish family.
“N” and her eight children were taken to a “safe house” within a religious community to start their new lives. With their new beginning, however, Yad L'Achim Chairman Rabbi Shalom Dov Lifschitz cautioned that there were many others in need of being saved from such devastating relationships. "We must think of all those Jewish souls that are still imprisoned," he said. "We must make use of every legitimate means to bring them from darkness to light."
