The father of terror victim Ofir Rahum, lured to his death via the Internet by a female Arab chat partner in January 2001, speaks out regarding the negotiations for the release of kidnapped IDF soldier Gilad Shalit. Mona Awana, who invited young Ofir to his death rendezvous, is on the list of terrorists whose release Hamas is demanding.

In the above video, Ofir’s father, Shalom, notes the discrepancy in previous and ongoing prisoner release deals for the return of captive IDF soldiers. “I would gladly trade my son’s murderess for the certain return of Gilad Shalit…but the issue is that we are not trading one on one.” Instead, Shalom Rahum notes, we are trading “700 destroyed families of the victims, for one soldier.”
Shalom Rahum noted that dangerous IDF counterterrorism operations risk the lives of soldiers daily to capture wanted terrorists. “Taking them out of the circle of terror,” he says, won’t work if the government signs deals to return the same terrorists at a later date.
