MK Danny Danon (Likud) has petitioned the Supreme Court to stop payment of salary pension and other benefits to former Arab MK Azmi Bishara (Balad). Bishara is suspected of aiding the enemy and other criminal offenses during the period leading up to and during the 2006 Lebanon War.

Bishara fled the country and in April 2007, resigned from the Knesset via the Israeli Embassy in Cairo and has remained outside of Israel since then, mainly in the Persian Gulf.

On April 27, 2008 the Israeli police stormed the house of former Israeli Arab Knesset Member Azmi Bishara in Beit Hanina to search for incriminating documents regarding his alleged ties with enemy countries.

In the above video, MK Danon explains his petition and why he believes support for it will be widespread and above any political party considerations.

Despite the severe security-related suspicions against him, Bishara continues to this day to receive 8,000 NIS per month from the State of Israel.
