Dozens of teenagers gave up their school’s traditional end-of-year field trip this year in favor of life in a tent city in Tel Aviv, where they plan to campaign on behalf of Sderot, the southern Israeli town which has suffered from rocket attacks for seven years.  Instead of trips with friends, the youths will march through Tel Aviv raising awareness of Sderot’s plight, soliciting help for the residents, and demanding decisive action on the part of the government to remove the threat of rockets.

The teenagers, students at the Jordan Valley’s Beit Shean premilitary academy (mechina), are no strangers to the harsh situation facing residents of Israel’s south. Several of them experienced the terror in the Gaza belt first hand when a rocket landed near a solidarity rally in the Negev, wounding protestors and starting a fire.

In the above video, students describe their activities on behalf of Sderot and the western Negev and appeal to all sectors of the public to join them in helping Israelis under attack.
