Prime Minister Sharon did not hold a press conference following his meeting with U.S. President George Bush last night, but plans to grant interviews to Israeli and American media this morning. He will also meet with heads of CNN, and present the Israeli complaints about the way in which they cover the Palestinian war against Israel.
Mixed reactions to the Bush-Sharon meeting have been heard in the delegation accompanying Sharon. The overall feeling is good, they say, but they also note that Bush did not promise not to invite Yasser Arafat to Washington, nor did he call clearly upon Arafat to end the violence. Sharon told Bush that his major foremost concern is the restoration of security to Israel\'s citizens, but he said he would not reinstate the restrictions against Arab residents in Judea and Samaria.
Sharon will meet later today with UN Secretary-General Kofi Anan, with whom he will discuss both the folly of dispatching an international peacekeeping force to the area and the abducted Israelis in Lebanon. The Prime Minister will return to Israel Thursday evening.
