Special undercover forces succeeded in preventing a suicide bomber from blowing up himself - and many others - inside Israel early this morning. They raided the village of Baka el-Sharkiye, on the northwestern corner of the Shomron, and made several arrests. As these were going on, a terrorist wearing an explosives-filled vest approached them and detonated the bomb. Two soldiers were hurt, including one in moderate condition. The dead terrorist was apparently on the mission about which the security forces were alerted and for which they placed the Hadera area in high security alert yesterday.

Only a few hours after this morning\'s incident, however, another alert was declared in the northern Negev. A number of suspicious Palestinians, who were apparently involved in terrorist activity in Gaza, were learned to have entered the area without permits. Soldiers at many checkpoints along the roads have spent the day checking for the infiltrators; some 22 Arabs without entry permits, as well as the man who smuggled them into Israel-proper, have been arrested so far today. Arutz-7\'s Moshe Priel says that tension can be felt throughout the south. An alert is also in force in the Sharon area.

The murderers of 20-year-old soldier Shlomo Elmakias were themselves accidentally killed yesterday while preparing a car bomb in Jenin. The two Fatah terrorists, Musa Jardat and Akrama Satiti, pulled up to Elmakias\' car near Um el-Fahm this past April, asked him directions, and then shot him. Four other women in the car were lightly hurt. They were also responsible for other terrorist attacks.

IDF forces were attacked with gunshots and grenades this morning near Tul Karem, Erez, and on the Israeli-Egyptian border. No one was hurt. North of Ganim, in the northern Shomron, terrorists opened fire at an Israeli motorist this morning, and soldiers shot at the attackers. No one on either side was hurt.
