Brig.-Gen. (res.) Effie Eitam and Menachem Landau, a former GSS department head, appeared yesterday in Washington at a session of the Congressional subcommittee on terrorism. Eitam told Arutz-7’s Yosef Zalmanson that he raised three points:

\"First of all, America must truly understand that these terrorists declared war, and did not just commit a crime. They chose the targets in New York and Washington very carefully in order to declare war against the free world. Secondly, although it\'s important to find and kill Bin Laden, that alone is not enough. The war must be won totally! The terrorists must be prevented from receiving unconventional weapons. The real coalition now is not as it was in 1991, when many countries took part in the fighting; now the coalition must be one where the free world bands together to monitor and ensure that these weapons don\'t reach them. Israel\'s open presence in this coalition not only doesn\'t hurt, but is very helpful… In addition, the U.S. must realize that the only long-term solution is to change the regimes in the countries that support terrorism - just like it did in Germany and Japan after World War II, and as happened in the Soviet Union.\"

Eitam said he told the committee that Israel should not be censored for doing the same thing that the U.S. is doing - \"going in and getting the terrorists who are attacking us. And we do a better job - look at the minuscule amount of civilians killed in our attacks compared to those killed in the American attacks.\" He said that the Congressmen did not agree with his idea that the PA should be dismantled, \"but many more of them are open to the idea that Arafat himself is the real problem.\"
