The uncertainty regarding the death yesterday of Capt. Eyal Sela continues. He was killed while leading his men in a battle against three Hamas terrorists on the southern Shechem bypass road. Arutz-7 correspondent Haggai Huberman reports that a Red Crescent doctor of the Palestinian Authority checked the wounded Sela and determined his death - but 20 minutes later when it was found that he was alive, he was taken to a hospital, where he died a few hours later. The Israelis did not treat him during those critical 20 minutes because of the Arab doctor\'s determination. The IDF spokesman has not yet issued a statement on the incident. Three terrorists were killed in the battle.
Arutz-7 correspondent Haggai Huberman reported that the IDF force was on hand to protect road workers, and when they noticed the terrorists approaching, they climbed a rocky hillside from where to confront them. The terrorists then opened fire, gravely wounding the commander of the force. \"A special IDF vehicle was called to the site, but couldn\'t reach it because of the difficult rocky terrain. But a Red Crescent team came, and one of the crew - some say he was a doctor, others say he was just a medic - checked and said, \'Don\'t waste your time, he\'s dead.\' The soldiers then stopped their efforts to resuscitate him, relying on the Red Crescent representative.\"
About 20 minutes later, when the Magen David Adom team was able to arrive, it saw no signs that any emergency measures had been taken for the wounded soldier. Medic Chezy Tzuri told Arutz-7, \"The usual procedure in this type of situation is to give him artificial resuscitation, drain the chest, and the like - but nothing had been done. There were no stickers of a monitor or needle insertions - nothing. This means that the Red Crescent medic checked him only superficially... We took those measures when we arrived... It\'s clear that the earlier the treatment begins, the better. Precious time was certainly wasted in this case.\"
