The Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum launched an Arabic version of its website two weeks ago. The website, an addition to the Hebrew, Russian, and Persian versions of the pages, was made to help combat rampant Holocaust denial and ignorance in the Arab-speaking world.

"The purpose of the website is to provide comprehensive and reliable information about the Holocaust," said Dana Porat, content manager at yadvashem.org "It is our expectation that by providing this information via the Internet, we will be able to reach the minds and the hearts of Arabic speakers around the world."

In addition to offering Holocaust information, other information was added to the website to help combat Holocaust denial, including information about the roles of Arab leaders during the Holocaust, the fate of North African and Iraqi Jews during the Holocaust, and an exhibition about Albanians who helped saved Jews.

The staff at Yad Vashem hopes that over the coming weeks, with the press coverage about the new Arabic translation, that interest in the website will be piqued.
