Preparing a "just in case" scenario, the City of Ramle is carrying out an exercise in supplying citizens with emergency water rations.
The exercise is being carried out today (Tuesday) by the Interior Ministry's Water Administration, in coordination with the Ramle municipality and with the participation of Israel Police, Mekorot Water Company, and Malach (the Emergency Distribution Administration).
The drill will begin with a simulated multi-rocket attack on the city that knocks out the electricity, sewage and water infrastructures. In such a scenario, the city is then forced to provide alternate means of water supply, including activating water drawing installations, distribution centers for water containers, faucet stations, help from neighboring local councils, water-bottle distribution, and more.
The exercise, the first of its kind in Ramle, will also help the city prepare for water supply problems caused by earthquake, war, contamination, or other.
"Unfortunately," said Interior Ministry Director Aryeh Bar, "the citizens of our country are all too familiar with emergency situations. Our Ministry's task is to help the local councils and the public prepare as well as possible to receive all services even during emergencies."
