The Samaria Military Court sentenced a Fatah terrorist to a life sentence Tuesday for killing IDF St. Sgt. Ro’i Farjoun.

Terrorist Muhammed Haranbeh was convicted of organizing the attack in which Farjoun was killed at a Jordan Valley checkpoint last year. Haranbeh, a member of Fatah's Al-Aksa Brigades, transported the terrorist to the scene of the attack.

The terrorist arrived Saturday afternoon at the checkpoint near the Jewish town of Bekaot, shooting Farjoun at close range and critically wounding him. Paramedics tried to resuscitate Farjoun to no avail.

Nachal Hareidi soldiers pursued the terrorist, killed him and apprehended Haranbeh.

It is unclear whether Haranbeh will be eligible for release as part of the string of "good-will gestures" initiated by the Olmert government in order to strengthen Fatah in Judea and Samaria.

Farjoun was one of quadruplets raised alone by his mother following his father’s death in a work accident when they were two years old.

Though raised in a traditional home, Farjoun enrolled in the religiously-observant pre-military academy in Beit El prior to joining the IDF. He served in the 97th Battalion of the religious Nachal Hareidi Netzach Yehuda brigade.

Farjoun was buried in the military section of the cemetery in Yehud. He is survived by his mother Tamar, his brothers Eliran and Guy, and sister Mor.
