The northern Jerusalem neighborhood of French Hill is slowly being opened to vehicular traffic at this time following the terrorist shooting attack directed at a passenger bus earlier today. At least one of the victims wounded in the attack has died. Over 40 persons are being treated in four Jerusalem hospitals.

POLICE WARN OF ADDITIONAL ATTACKS
As the wounded from the latest terror attack are being triaged and treated in Jerusalem hospitals, Jerusalem Police Chief Mickey Levy stated that attacks will most likely continue and Jerusalem remains high on the terrorist list of targets. The commander stated we are facing efforts to carry out attacks involving car bombs and other lethal means intended to kill as many innocent persons as possible.
Levy commended the immediate actions of border police stationed at the French Hill ‘Trampiada’ hitchhiking post, pointing out that the attack was brought to and end in a matter of seconds after one of the terrorist was shot to death on the scene.
PASSENGER BUS TARGETED BY AUTOMATIC GUNFIRE
A public bus traveling from the northern neighborhood of N’vei Yaakov was attacked by M-16 gunfire as it drove through the French Hill neighborhood of the capital. Jerusalem Police Chief Mickey Levy reports it is was most fortunate that border police stationed in the area reacted immediately, bringing the attack to an end in a matter of seconds. Passengers on the bus estimate some forty persons were on board when the shots rang out. The situation was one of immediate panic and the many teenagers returning from school began shouting, some realizing immediately they were under attack.
ATTACK NEAR RECENT FATAL ATTACK
On Sept. 15th, Jerusalem resident 23-year-old Meir Weishaus was killed on Route 9 between Ramot and French Hill, not far from the latest fatal attack. There have also been other non-fatal attacks in the same area, both on Route 9 and in the French Hill area.

2. Hadassah Mt. Scopus - 13 wounded (1 serious being transported to Hadassah in Ein Kerem, several moderate)
3. Shaare Zedek Medical Center – From Dr. Rachel Adato, deputy director- 17 wounded (1 died, 3 serious, 13 light-to-moderate)
4. Bikur Cholim – 4 wounded (light)
TERRORIST CLAIM RESPONSIBILITY
Police report the slain terrorist, 34, from the Hevron area, is identified as a member of the Islamic Jihad terror organization. The Hamas terror organization has also claimed responsibility for the attack.
