A motorist was seriously injured by gunfire while driving on the Cross-Israel Highway (Route 6) Tuesday afternoon. The shooting occurred near the Horshim Interchange.
Police did not immediately rule out the possibility of Palestinian Authority terrorism, as the injured man was hit directly in the chest. One possibility being investigated is a terrorist sniper targeting Israelis from an area along or overlooking the major thoroughfare. On the other hand, no terrorist group has as yet claimed responsibility for the shooting.

credence, is that the bullet that struck the Israeli driver was fired in celebration by PA Arabs on the other side of the concrete security wall abutting the highway. Route 6, Israel's sole toll road, runs north-south for several miles along the barrier constructed to separate PA-controlled areas in Judea and Samaria from pre-1967 Israel. Guns were apparently discharged by attendees at a wedding underway in a nearby PA town at the time of the incident.
Prior to the construction of the separation wall along Route 6, PA terrorists fired at Israelis using the toll road. In one incident, a seven-year-old girl was murdered by a PA sniper from the city of Kalkilya, in Samaria.
In other news of terror from Kalkilya, PA Arabs attacked an Israeli vehicle southeast of the PA-controlled city on Tuesday night. The attackers hurled a firebomb at the car, but hurt no one and caused no damage. IDF soldiers searched the area for the attackers.
Elsewhere on Tuesday, PA gunmen opened fire on IDF soldiers along the Gaza border fence. The attack took place south of the Kissufim Crossing, which used to serve as an entry route for Gush Katif. No injuries or damage were reported in the attack.
Later the same day, PA terrorists in Gaza also targeted civilians. A Kassam rocket landed outside Sderot in the evening, but no injuries or damage were reported.

Although the exercises are carried out without live ammunition, Yesh Din claimed they created panic in Arab villages in the areas where they take place. The group complained about the reserve units training exercises to Military Advocate Brig.-Gen. Avichai Mandelblit in March. This week, he announced he was suspending the practice pending an investigation into Yesh Din's claims.
