The security officer of the Shomron (Samaria) community of Bruchin was shot and wounded in the leg by Palestinian terrorists this afternoon. The attack took place while the victim was on patrol between the communities Peduel and Alei Zahav, west of Ariel. He was treated on the scene, and was taken to Beilinson Hospital in Petach Tikvah in moderate condition.

An Israeli motorist who was bombarded with Arab-hurled rocks this afternoon fired his weapon in self-defense, apparently injuring at least one of the attackers. IDF officials are investigating. The incident occurred opposite an Arab school between Shilo and Tapuach, from where many rock-throwing attacks have been launched over the past several months.

Palestinian rock-throwers damaged several Israeli vehicles this morning on the Tunnels Highway, between Gush Etzion and Jerusalem. The attacks occurred outside the Arab village of el-Hader, where much anti-Israeli terrorism and violence has originated during the past half-year. Yesterday\'s murder of Baruch Cohen occurred not far from there.

Palestinian terrorists shot five times at IDF positions in Gaza last night, mostly along the Israeli-Egyptian border, as well as at N\'vei Dekalim and the Erez Crossing. The fire towards Erez came from within a PA military outpost. An Environmental (Green) Police patrol operating in the Southern Hevron Hills area near Yatir was attacked by terrorist gunfire last night; no one was hurt. Palestinians also shot last night at the IDF checkpoint near Horon, as well as at an army vehicle near B\'kaot in the Jordan Valley, lightly wounding an IDF officer.

O.C. Southern Command Maj.-Gen. Doron Almog met last night at Gaza\'s Erez Crossing with his PA counterpart, in another attempt to renew security cooperation between Israel and the PA. Israel reports that Almog sent a clear message to the PA that the firing of mortar rockets against Israeli targets within pre-1967 Israel was unacceptable. PA-fired rockets landed near Kibbutz Nachal Oz, north of Gaza, the night before.
