The joint task force against the homosexual march in Jerusalem plans a giant protest rally this evening (Sunday). Thousands of people, including from outside the capital, are expected to take part. Violence after the event, and possibly for the next few days, is not being ruled out.
The police plan to declare a state of alert on Thursday, the day of the scheduled gay parade.
Many streets will be closed for the protest rally, including Bar Ilan, parts of Shmuel HaNavi, and Yirmiyahu. Last night, after the Sabbath, anti-parade Jews blocked off a main street (Shivtei Yisrael) in protest of the parade.
City Councilwoman Mina Fenton (National Religious Party) has asked Jerusalem Mayor Uri Lupoliansky to call an urgent meeting of the Jerusalem City Council this Tuesday. This, in light of what she calls the "scandalous permit" granted by the police for the homosexual march.
