On April 17, 2007, some 50 Rabbis, students, and laymen staged a sit-in protest calling on the UN Secretary General to expel Iran from the international body for its threats to obliterate Israel. After a march from the Iranian UN mission to the Isaiah Peace Wall, the group of distinguished Jewish leaders acted on the prophet Isaiah's declaration: "For Zion' sake I will not be silent and for Jerusalem's sake I will not be still."
Under the They sat on the busy New York City sidewalk obstructing pedestrian traffic in an act of civil disobedience. After not heeding police warnings to voluntarily clear the way, the group was taken one by one, handcuffed and placed under arrest.
