An non-commissioned Arab officer in the IDF was indicted Thursday for stealing weapons from the army for sale to PA Arab terrorist groups.
The Shabak (General Security Service) has had a gag order in place for the past two months preventing the publication of the affair.
The non-commissioned officer, Arkaan Bashir was indicted in the Nazareth Magistrates Court, along with four accomplices from his village of Illut and the Arab town of Kafr Kana.
Bashir served as an army vehicle inspector on an IDF base. He took advantage of his security clearance and rapport with other soldiers to steal guns and ammunition from the base, which he sold to PA Arabs.
Sixteen additional IDF soldiers have been questioned in the case and 10 of them will stand trial in IDF military courts. Information on the religion and ethnicity of the other suspects is unavailable at this time.
The arms dealer who was purchasing the guns and reselling them to terror groups was also arrested. He is Ahmed Buz, from PA-assigned Tul Karem.
