An IDF helicopter fired a missile and killed one of the army\'s most wanted terrorists in Hevron today. The missile hit Jamil Jadaleh\'s house, killing him on the spot. Jadaleh murdered Itamar Doron near Moshav Orah on Oct. 13, 1998, and Danny Vargas of Kiryat Arba 13 days later. He had been sentenced to life by the PA, but \"escaped\" four times, and was involved in several major attacks against Israelis: The murder of two high school boys in N\'vei Yamin, the Sharon Mall killing of five people, the 15 deaths in the Sbarro restaurant, and the Dolphinarium massacre of 21 people. An IDF statement after today\'s action said that Jadaleh was in the midst of preparing a carbomb for an attack in Israel. The army emphasized that it would continue to take all necessary action to thwart terrorism and protect Israeli citizens.



Heavy IDF forces carried out a cleansing mission in the PA-controlled village of Arabeh, beginning in the early hours of the morning and ending several hours later. The mission, involving the entry of infantry, tanks, and engineering corps into the Jenin-area village in northern Shomron, included the arrest of a Palestinian who was about to set off on a suicide attack, his accomplice, and four other terrorists. Two soldiers were lightly wounded when local Arabs opened fire. The army also operated in Tul Karem today, and Hamas terrorist Abdullah Jeroushi was killed in a battle. A curfew has been imposed on several areas in and around the city.



Heavy Palestinian attacks continued in Gush Katif in the south. Arabs hurled 19 grenades over night at an IDF outpost near Rafiach on the Israeli-Egyptian border, and two more near Gadid slightly further north this morning. They also opened fire at the Gadid position, as well as at other outposts near N\'vei Dekalim and Atzmonah. No one was hurt, and IDF soldiers returned fire.



Last night, two students sitting in a parked car on the road circling the Hebrew University Mt. Scopus campus in the capital were attacked by gunfire. Shots hit the windshield and the hood, but the students were unhurt… An army jeep was ambushed near Gilad Junction in the Shomron, where Gilad Zar was murdered almost five months ago… Shots at Psagot… An explosive pack went off before noon near an army vehicle in the area of Shavei Shomron, and Arabs shot at the soldiers at the same time. No one was hurt, but the vehicle was damaged...



Shots were fired this afternoon at a vehicle near Chomesh, in central Shomron; no one was hurt, and special ambush-unit soldiers killed two of the attacking terrorists.
