On Thursday, March 1, a large-scale study session will be held in Tel Aviv to mark the 9th anniversary of the death of prolific author Tel Aviv Chief Rabbi Chaim David HaLevy.

Rabbi HaLevy is well-known for the 30 books he wrote, combining Jewish Law with Aggadah (rabbinic homiletics), Kabbalah and Jewish philosophy in an easy-to-understand manner.

A top student of the first Sephardic Chief Rabbi in the modern-day Holy Land, Rabbi Ben-Tzion Meir Chai Uziel (1880-1953), Rabbi HaLevy concluded his 30th book 40 days before his death.  He also authored 3,000 articles on Torah and modern Jewish-legal topics, and spoke prolifically.

Among his works are Mekor Chaim, a several-volume work on all facets of Jewish Law, and Aseh Lecha Rav, several volumes of his responses to questions presented to him on fascinating topics from people around the country.
