To leave or not to leave? This is the question to which IDF forces in Beit Jala wish they knew the answer this morning. Although Prime Minister Sharon and Defense Minister Ben-Eliezer decided last night not to withdraw them because of the continuing Palestinian fire in the vicinity, Ben-Eliezer announced this morning that they would be leaving tonight. He did not specify whether this was contingent upon the level of Palestinian violence. Other government spokesmen, however, such as Transportation Minister Ephraim Sneh and Minister Matan Vilnai, said that a final decision had not yet been made. The area has been quiet this morning.
