Police on Sunday announced that they have solved an eight-year-old murder case. 30-year-old Rafiah resident Yassir Abu Levada is being held for the murder of Ashdod resident Natasha Ivanov, 32.
The suspect in custody was stopped for a routine identity card check in the Tel Aviv area, and his ID was found to be a forgery. The General Security Service (Shabak) was called in, and an interrogation lead to Abu Levada\'s confession of committing the terrorist murder of Ivanov on December 23, 1994. He also attempted to murder Ashdod resident Reuven Ezra, a building contractor, in September \'94. Ezra survived his attack but was injured seriously.
Abu Levada told authorities that the murder was his induction test into the \"Red Eagle\" terrorist organization. Abu Levada\'s remand was extended on Sunday until March 29.
