“Everyone realized how hard it was for people in the north during the war last summer,” one child explained. “We are also having a very hard time in Sderot. Almost every day there is another attack.”

Another young man explained that he wakes up every day having no idea whether all the members of his family will still be alive by the end of the day: “You don’t know what will happen to you, but when the rockets fall, we are more scared for our families than for ourselves. Every time a rocket falls, my entire class takes turns leaving the classroom to call their families – making sure that they are OK and letting them know that we are unhurt.”

The young people insist that the rockets themselves would be bearable if they had the feeling that this was the price to be paid for the IDF defeating the Gaza terrorists. “In the north, residents said they were willing to stay in their bomb shelters if that is what it would take for the IDF to complete its mission,” one young man told the committee. “We too are ready to stay in the shelters as long as it is the price for actual action. Go back into Gaza already and put an end to this.”
