The dead terrorist, Baha Khatari, 26, was a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). He took part in an attempted ambush of IDF troops involving grenades followed by automatic gunfire. Also taking part in the ambush in Shechem (Nablus) were members of PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah group.

Police confiscated half a kilogram of heroin, 150 grams of cocaine, thousands of bullets, stolen cash and goods. 150 members of the security forces took part in the operation.
In other IDF news, the army has decided to reopen a special training facility dealing with anti-guerrilla tactics, according to the IDF weekly BaMachaneh.
The facility, which specialized in fighting in Lebanon, is located at the Elyakim base in northern Israel. It was closed down after Prime Minister Ehud Barak's hasty withdrawal from southern Lebanon in 2000.
The training facility specializes in GPS navigation, camouflage techniques and other such counter-guerrilla tactics. A replica of a densely populated village is located on the base.
