MKs Wasal Taha and Muhammad Barakeh also entered Hamas-administered Gaza Thursday, visiting Beit Hanoun, the town from which Kassam rockets are fired on the city of Sderot and the site of the anti-Kassam artillery hit that killed 18 on Wednesday.
Tibi told reporters that “the pain unites us,” speaking about Arab citizens of the Palestinian Authority and of Israel. MK Barakeh went a step further, referring to Arabs on both sides of the 1949 armistice lines in declaring, “The Palestinian nation is united against the wicked occupation.”
A large protest, organized by the Israeli Arab Higher Steering Committee, is to take place Friday at 3 PM in Nazareth.
MK Effie Eitam (National Union-NRP) responded to news of the visits, saying, “The Arab MKs continue their subversive and treasonous activities against the State of Israel, taking advantage of the tragedy in Beit Hanoun in order to strengthen the enemies of Israel and grant legitimacy to the firing of Kassam rockets at Sderot and Ashkelon.”
The artillery incident took place following heavy volleys of Kassam rocket attacks on the city of Sderot, as well as rocket impacts in the midst of the metropolitan coastal city of Ashkelon and its industrial zone.
