One rocket landed in a Kibbutz, causing light damage to a local home. Several people on the Kibbutz were treated for shock. The other four rockets landed in an open area and caused no damage.
The rockets landed in the southwestern area of the Negev, where local residents believe that as a result of the pressure of the IDF's Operation Autumn Clouds campaign the rocket attacks are being aimed at targets further south, closer to the Gaza Strip.
Head of the Eshkol Municipal Council, Uri Naamti, predicted that as the military pressure increased rocket attacks to the southern Negev region where he resides would also increase. "It is a tense situation, which we have been contending with for over five years. To our great misfortune, they have fired at us in the past and will continue to fire at us in the future," stated Naamti.
Naamti pointed to the grave danger posed to residents of the southern Negev whose homes remain unprotected against the ongoing onslaught of Kassam rocket attacks. "In our municipality only the kindergartens and educational institutions have been prepared to withstand rocket attacks. Only after all the educational institutions have been completed will we begin to prepare the homes of residents to withstand attacks. Ultimately, children spend most of their time at home, meaning that the danger to them remains great," he explained.
