At a press conference on Saturday, representatives of the Islamic Jihad's military wing, the al-Quds Brigades, and Fatah's al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades vowed to carry out a renewed wave of suicide attacks in Israel if the Israeli offensive in northern Gaza did not come to an end. The IDF’s Operation Autumn Clouds, which began late Tuesday night, is aimed at bringing an end to the ongoing barrage of rocket launches from the Gaza region toward Israeli targets.
The terror representatives threatened "to act with all force to curb Israel's offensive," claiming that the United States was working cooperatively with Israel against the Palestinians. The Islamic Jihad vowed to avenge the killing of one of its top terror operatives in Judea, Saah Hassan, whom they described as "a commander who preferred to fight until his death and not to give up, although the soldiers who took part in the operation arrested his brother and despite the destruction of his house."
Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas called on the UN Security Council for intervention, asking it to "move quickly and discuss the tragic situation in the Palestinian territories caused by the Israeli aggression."
Israel Radio reported that an IDF soldier was seriously injured when a bomb was thrown at a group of soldiers after a gun battle in Beit Hanoun on Saturday morning. The Soroka Medical Center in Beer Sheba stated that the soldier, who had sustained head injuries, was in serious but stable condition.
IDF forces in Gaza uncovered a cache of hidden weapons including RPG missiles, Kalashnikovs, grenades, Kassam rocket launchers, communications devices and IDF uniforms and military vests.
