One thousand cubic meters of water from a swimming pool in north Tel Aviv will be used to water the same amount of trees in five nearby neighborhoods. The step will save about ten days\' worth of watering. A swimming pool in the southern part of the city will be used for a similar purpose. City officials note that the water\'s chlorine evaporates within three days, leaving the water irrigation-worthy.

In a related story, the Nature and Parks Authority will divert water to dying brooks in the Galilee and around the Kinneret. Hillel Glassman of the Authority told Arutz-7, \"We are engaged in a number of emergency measures to save wet areas that are being dried out, such as Nachal Betzet in the western Galilee where the springs have totally dried out. It is generally very rich place, with fish, other live creatures, water cracks, vegetation - but it\'s all dried out. The Water Commission gave us the OK to divert water to there, because we must understand: Nature, too, deserves to receive some water...\"

\"Another place,\" Glassman said, \"that is suffering from over-drawing and the drop of close to 5 meters in the Kinneret level is a wetland to the north-east of the Kinneret. It usually has an entire world of nature - but has now dried out totally. There used to be 30-50 meter wide channels of water, and now they are only 2-3 meters wide... What we did was to dig two artificial pools alongside the brook, to simulate the nearby lagoons that used to be there. We then filled them with water from the brook, thus reviving the area, and then the water is diverted back to the brook..\" According to Glassman, a rainy winter, as is forecasted, will help - but will not solve the problem: \"What we need is a few good winters, plus other water supplies that will help take the pressure off the natural sources.\"
