The anthrax panic has reached Israel as well. Three letters and packages with suspicious-looking powder were received by mail in three different Yesha communities yesterday; laboratory examinations proved them to be safe. Today the Ma\'ariv building in Jerusalem was evacuated for a short time when an envelope with white powder was received; a Ma\'ariv reporter admitted shortly afterwards that he had sent the material as a prank. The police report that they have received reports of dozens of \"suspicious\" letters and packages, but that most of them would not be sent for laboratory analysis but would rather be kept in police storage facilities.
