Two unconfirmed reports have been received that the Palestinians shot an anti-tank missile towards an Israeli tank in Gush Katif last night. The reports say that only two hours after Dichter\'s meeting with Al-Hindi, a missile was shot from the PA city of Khan Yunis in Gaza towards an Israeli tank stationed in N\'vei Dekalim. The rocket hit an empty area. If the reports are true, it would not be the first time that an anti-tank missile was shot; the shell that tore through a bulletproof school bus last November, killing two adults and wounding several children, including the three Cohen children, was apparently also of that type.
Last night\'s shooting followed a weekend of heavy shooting by terrorist forces at Israeli civilian targets in Katifa, Netzarim and N\'vei Dekalim. In addition, IDF outposts there and in other Gaza locations were targeted by PA gunfire. Soldiers returned fire and, in some cases, gun battles ensued. North of Hevron, the army neutralized two explosive devices last night. Earlier in the night, an explosive device on the same road exploded. There were no injuries in either incident.
Today\'s Palestinian violence: Palestinian terrorists fired at an Israeli bus in the Shomron this morning; no one was hurt. Many bullets hit the bus, but the lone passenger - the driver - was not hurt. Later in the day, shots were fired at the Shaked industrial zone in northern Shomron; no one was hurt, and IDF soldiers returned fire. The incident occurred during a visit by businessmen, sponsored by the Shomron Regional Council, to check investment possibilities there. The shots came from within Israeli-controlled territory.
Talk about looking for an excuse: The Islamic Jihad announced today that it will respond strongly to Israel\'s attempt to kidnap and kill several of the organization\'s terrorists. The Jihad claims that at the end of February, Israel failed in its attempts to abduct Riad Abu Hashish and two other terrorists from the Shati refugee camp.
The IDF is engaged in a ten-million shekel campaign to rebuild portions of the fence separating Gaza from the rest of Israel. Some 12 kilometers of fencing have been destroyed over the past six months. The work is being undertaken under heavy guard.
