The incident was released for publication Wednesday afternoon.

Two Givati Brigade soldiers were seriously wounded in the incident, and others were lightly hurt. Among the injured was the brigade commander, Lt.-Col. Bassam Alian, who assumed the position just a week ago. The wounded were flown to Rambam Hospital in Haifa in two helicopters.

The soldiers had been on ambush duty, searching out Hizbullah terrorists, when they stepped on the mines. The mines were placed in the Har Dov region also known as the Sheeba farms years ago to prevent infiltration of Arab terrorists.

The complex evacuation of the wounded took several hours, due to the fear of other mines in the area.

The IDF has launched an investigation into the incident.
