A new quarterly periodical named Eretz Yisrael - Land of Israel - has been launched, and will cover environmental issues from a traditional Jewish perspective. Editor Yoav Sorek of Ofrah told Arutz-7 yesterday that the just-published first issue contains articles on a unique educational environment-preservation program in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Har Nof, how to commemorate the societal aspects of the Shemittah year, water sources in Israel, and more.
\"The journal will attempt to challenge the reader to build a better environment,\" Sorek said, \"especially in Eretz Yisrael. The religious public has a natural tendency in this direction; it is conscious of what G-d has given us, and has a constant awareness that the world belongs not only to us but also to future generations... Unfortunately, most \'green\' organizations have a political agenda; we would like to break the stereotype connecting environmentalism with left-wing politics... The modern age suffers from a lack of both humility and responsibility towards ecological issues. We must realize that we are in a \'culture of consumption\' - that which increases our cravings, instead of helping us integrate into the environment.\" Subscriptions to Eretz Yisrael journal, published in Hebrew, can be obtained by emailing \"hananmozes@hotmail.co.il\".
