Initial reports state that the commander of the watch entered the juvenile war in order to conduct a count of prisoners. The terrorist came up behind him and stabbed him twice with a 6-inch spike that he had fashioned himself. The officer was able to overcome his attacker, and was given first-aid treatment at the scene. He was then evacuated to nearby Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba.
Astate of emergency was declared throughout the prison. All wards were closed and visits were suspended.
