Many anti-Israel protests held around the world in the past days deteriorated quickly into anti-Semitic events featuring unrestrained incitement against the local Jewish communities. The protestors typically unfurled Hizbullah flags and swastikas, and equated IDF soldiers with Nazi thugs.

At least 50 anti-Semitic incidents have been recorded worldwide in the past two weeks, Ynet reports, including ten violent ones. On July 28, a Muslim-American opened fire in a Jewish Federation building in Seattle, killing one woman and wounding five others. Other incidents included an assault on two Israeli families in Turkey, attacks on at least two Jewish communal buildings in Sydney, Australia, vandalism against a youth and a synagogue in Oslo, and anti-Semitic vandalism in Brazil.

The Jewish Agency reports that the situation is reminiscent of the Oslo War period, in that Jewish installations have been attacked, as have kippa-wearing and beard-sporting Jews. Anti-Semitic emails and phone messages have been left at Jewish institutions. The increase has been noted in areas that have large numbers of Lebanese immigrants and Moslems.

Some ten days ago, 2,500 people participated in a pro-Israel rally in Berlin. The rally, whose motto was "Israel has the right to defend itself," was organized by several organizations, including non-Jewish ones. The participants marched through the streets of Berlin under heavy protection by police and additional security forces, out of concern for violence perpetrated by Iranians and Arabs.
