Results of the Labor Party internal elections, which were held six weeks ago, may be finalized next week, when the party\'s arbitration committee convenes to hear the two sides. Although official results show a 1.5% lead for Knesset Speaker Avraham Burg, Defense Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer has filed several objections in light of severe irregularities detected in several polling stations. More specifically, Ben-Eliezer claims that results in some Druze sector stations, where Burg won 80% of the votes, were contrived and otherwise stolen.

Meanwhile, Labor officials are planning to change the system for choosing the party\'s leader. It is likely that an electoral voice will no longer be given to every individual party member, and that an electoral college system will be instated. Ynet reports that party seniors Shlomo Ben-Ami and Chaim Ramon - who apparently chose not to run for party leader this past election under the assumption that Labor would lose the next national election - are taking advantage of the uncertain situation to solidify their own leadership positions.
