Arabs attempted to murder an Israeli civilian last night, but managed only to wound him lightly. Shots were fired from a passing car at an Israeli vehicle just east of Petach Tivka near Oranit. The army has placed a nearby Arab village under curfew.

In an incident at the Karni Crossing in Gaza, IDF soldiers shot and killed three Palestinian terrorists in the act of placing a bomb. Near the community of Netzer Hazani, soldiers shot two armed Arabs who attempted to cross the fence surrounding the Gush Katif bloc of Jewish communities. It was not clear whether the terrorists were killed or merely wounded. The IDF spokesman said that a major attack against civilians and soldiers within Gush Katif was thus thwarted.
