Hizbullah terrorists fired an anti-tank missile at IDF forces Sunday evening, wounding four soldiers. Their tank was hit as troops were trying to rescue an IDF soldier wounded in an earlier battle.
The attack occurred near the village of Al Tayyiba, near the Israeli border, 5 kilometers (3 miles) west of Metullah.
Four other soldiers were hit in battles that took place earlier in the day, one in the morning and three more in the afternoon. Two sustained moderate injuries and two were lightly wounded.
At least three terrorists were killed in the exchange of fire Sunday by Nahal Division forces and the 401st armored division. The IAF wounded two others in an air strike.
IDF troops located a weapons cache in the village which held 10 anti-tank missiles, rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) launchers and other ammunition.
The Tayibeh operation was launched Saturday night after IDF forces quit the village of Bint Jbeil, known as the Hizbullah capital of Lebanon. Eight IDF soldiers were killed in the three-day battle for Bint Jbeil last week.
Mop-up operations began after the IDF took control of the village and were completed on Saturday. Tayibeh serves as another Hizbullah stronghold, and is used to fire Katyusha rockets at northern Israeli communities.
Some 200 terrorists have been eliminated by IDF action, including 40 senior officers, since the start of the war. Hizbullah refuses to confirm those figures.
