Approximately 30 people were injured in Katyusha attacks on Monday, with some 17 wounded in the first wave of attacks in the morning.



At least 10 rockets crashed in Kiryat Shemona and the Tzell-Harim area in a second wave, which struck the north at mid-afternoon. One of the missiles scored a direct hit on a house in the city, but there were no reports of injuries in the attacks.



Thick smoke hung over the area as firefighters battled a huge blaze caused by the rockets. Firefighters were still working to put out a fire that started three days ago and had been extinguished but re-ignited in the rocket attack.



Most of the missiles fell in open areas, injuring no one but igniting more fires in the Galilee panhandle and the Golan. Another large fire was raging near Tzfat, where 10 rockets landed.



Tiberias was also hit with a barrage of rockets which landed on several streets in the city. Magen David Adom officials said in an interview on Army Radio that workers were going from one apartment to the next to check on residents near the landing site. Two people were wounded by flying shrapnel and more than 20 were treated for shock.



Rockets exploded in the western Galilee and the Haifa area as well. Three people were injured in the Haifa suburbs known as the Krayot and 20 others were treated for shock when 3 rockets fell there.



Two buildings in Nahariya were hit by rockets, including one which was under construction. Both were heavily damaged. The Druze villages of Kisra and Tefen were also attacked.



Two people in Ma’a lot suffered moderate to serious shrapnel wounds in the neck and stomach during a heavy barrage there earlier in the day.



One person in Shlomi was lightly injured as well. Shlomi is located a few kilometers southeast of Rosh Hanikra, north of Nahariya. Two missiles also landed further to the south, striking Acco (Acre). One person was injured. Both victims were taken to Nahariya Hospital.
