The victim who died in the late afternoon attack was killed in a small playground located between two buildings just ten meters away from the bomb shelter into which he had just brought his family.
According to an Israel Channel Two Television reporter on the scene, the man had left the shelter for a brief moment when the rocket hit. Magen David Adom (MDA) reported that he was the 13th Israeli killed in the Re-engagement war so far.
Six people were lightly injured in the attack. At least 20 victims were treated for shock by MDA paramedics at the scene.
Katyushas fell in three different areas of the northwestern city. A private home took a direct hit, as did a three-story structure which was also destroyed in the attack. An IDF spokesman said that “four or five” buildings were hit.
More than 80 rockets fell across the north on Tuesday, sweeping the border communities from Rosh Pina to the Golan. Nahariya, Haifa, the Krayot suburbs, Tzfat, Hatzor, Carmiel, Moshav Sde-Eliezer, Gush Chalav, Ma’alot, Tiberius and other communities were all strafed by the missiles.
Four fires were touched off in the northern Ramat HaGolan and Galilee Panhandle as a result of the attacks. Helicopters helped firefighters put out the blazes.
Magen David Adom reported that more than 440 people have been injured in this Re-engagement War.
