Sunday, a protest against Syria and Iran, which was also a memorial service for those killed in the ongoing war was held in front of the Syrian mission to the UN in New York City. The rally, organized by AMCHA – Coalition for Jewish Concerns, continued to the Israeli UN mission, just blocks away.
Protestors declared that Syria and Iran are directly responsible for Hamas and Hizbullah and heard from Elie Weisel, senators Hillary Rodham Clinton and Frank Lautenberg, as well as Israeli UN Ambassador Dan Gillerman.
Another protest is planned for Monday across from the United Nations, on First Avenue at 42nd Street, at noon. It is demanding the release of kidnapped soldiers Gilad Shalit, Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev. The rally is sponsored by the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations and the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York, in cooperation with UJA-Federation of New York. In Chicago, also Monday at noon, a rally will be held at Federal Plaza (Dearborn & Adams), sponsored by the Jewish Community Relations Council and the JUF.
In San Francisco Monday at noon, a rally for Israel will be held as well – at 456 Montgomery street.
A prayer rally has been called by the Yesha Rabbis Council to take place at 5:30 PM Monday at the Western Wall in Jerusalem.
In Washington, D.C. on Wednesday, a rally will be held at noon at Freedom Plaza (Penn & 14th NW). It is sponsored by the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Washington.
A massive community prayer rally is planned to take place Thursday July 20th in Melbourne, Australia. The rally will take place at Caulfield Hebrew Congregation (572 Inkerman St, Caulfield). Earlier in the day, a protest will be held in front of the GPO in Melbourne from 12:45 to 2 PM. Participants are asked to wear blue and white ribbons.
The Hareidi-religious Agudath Israel of America has called upon all Jews around the world to "respond to the alarming situation in Eretz Yisrael with intensified determination to merit Hashem's help for our brethren in the Holy Land." The organization is calling for increased prayers, as well as the recitation of Psalms, especially Chapters 83, 130, and 142, every morning following prayer services.
