The terrorist cell was preparing an attack against Israeli civilians.

IDF counter-terror operations continue throughout Judea and Samaria even as the army battles on two fronts against Hizbullah in the north and Hamas in the south of Israel. According to the IDF spokesman, Shechem, located only 25 miles east of Herziliya, is known as a particularly fierce center of Arab terrorist activity.

The IDF soldier who was killed in the terrorist round-up in Shechem was 20-year-old Oshri Damarie of Netanya. (pictured above) Six other soldiers were wounded in the incident when Arab terrorists hurled an explosive device at the patrol.

Among the injured soldiers was the son of O.C. Central Command Maj.-Gen. Yair Naveh, who was moderately wounded. In sum, one soldier was wounded severely, two moderately, and an offider and two other soldiers were wounded lightly. They were treated at Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba, Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikvah and Sheba Hospital in Tel Hashomer.

The Al-Aksa Martyrs’ Brigades, a terror group belonging to the Fatah faction headed by PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, took responsibility for the attack.
